Whole Foods Coming To Northwest DC Development: Report

WASHINGTON, DC — Whole Foods is coming to the Parks at Walter Reed, the company announced Friday. The Amazon-owned grocery chain will occupy 40,000 square feet on the ground level of one of the development’s mixed use buildings, according to a report.

Whole Foods is the largest retailer to announce plans to move into the Parks at Walter Reed, Washington Business Journal reports. The 3.1 million square foot development located across from the old Army medical center campus is reportedly the largest active project in the District.

An apartment building intended to provide housing for veterans was the first section of the Parks to open earlier this year. Two additional residential buildings are slated for completion along Georgia Avenue Northwest. Finally, developers will complete work on the town center, which includes three mixed-use buildings.

Whole Foods will take up a majority of the 60,000 square feet in one mixed use building known as the Hartley. The remaining space will be occupied by a junior anchor and two smaller retailers.
