Trump posts tweet threatening unnamed people in a video he accuses of being ‘anarchists’

In a reckless and dangerous move, President Donald Trump posted a video on Twitter Monday of a small group of people, apparently at a protest, speaking vaguely about putting “stuff out here.” Despite the fact that the video appeared entirely innocuous, Trump apparently read into the clip sinister motives, and shared it to his millions of followers with a threatening message.

“Anarchists, we see you!” he wrote.

Again, there was no clear indication that the people in the video were “anarchists” or involved in wrongdoing of any kind. But the faces of at least three people Trump was threatening were visible, potentially exposing them to harassment or worse from his followers.

Trump made no further explanation of who he thought these people were or why he targeting them.

“From this small clip and without any context, how do you know that these individuals whose faces you blasted to millions of Americans accusing them of being “Anarchists” are actually doing anything wrong. They merely talked about putting stuff out on picnic tables,” said Eugene Gu in response. “I didn’t see them in the commission of any crime nor talking about doing any illegal acts. How do you know they weren’t planning on putting water bottles and milk on the picnic tables to help protestors who are dehydrated or have been pepper sprayed by the police?”

“Remember – he’s never tweeted anything like this about the white nationalists who actually killed people (unlike the anarchists!) He called them “very fine people” and called white nationalist terror a “small group” of people,” said Mehdi Hasan.
