Think You Have The Best Neighbors? Now You Can Prove It

Good neighbors aren’t hard to find. On any given day, people are helping others in their communities in ways big and small. These acts of kindness are making an impact, but they often go unrecognized. Now, though, more people are actually getting to celebrate their neighbors’ good deeds through the Neighbors app by Ring.

Sharing these uplifting acts not only supports connections between neighbors, it also helps build stronger, safer communities. That’s why on Feb. 12, the Neighbors app by Ring launched “Neighborly Moments,” a new category that makes it even easier for people to share the good things that are going on where they live.

Neighbors is a free app that provides real-time local crime and safety alerts. Users were previously posting about the nice things their neighbors were doing under the “safety” category of the app, but these “Neighborly Moments” are so common that they needed a feel-good category of their own.

What Is A “Neighborly Moment?”

Simply put, a “Neighborly Moment” is an act of kindness from someone in the community. It can be a small gesture, such as returning a lost wallet or letting someone know their windows are open before a storm hits. “Neighborly Moments” can also be bigger, more-vital good deeds such as alerting a neighbor to a fire or helping them to safety.

Here are five real-life “Neighborly Moments” posted to the Neighbors app by Ring. As you’re about to see, members of your community are often the first you can count on to lend a helping hand.

#1 The Warm Welcome

A Canal Winchester, Ohio, resident named Gordon was pleasantly surprised to discover his neighbor Paul used a snowblower to clear his driveway without him even having to ask. Gordon posted a video of Paul’s kind act to the Neighbors app, writing, “This guy is stealing my snow! Sometimes, your Ring may catch a good deed. He did everyone in the cul-de-sac. Great neighbor indeed.”

#2 A Healthy Dose Of Kindness

Kathy, a Blue Springs, Missouri, resident, posted a “Neighborly Moment” thanking the “kind neighbor lady who took the time to bring a much needed prescription to us.”

Kathy said the medicine “had been delivered to an incorrect address,” but thanks to her thoughtful neighbor, the prescription “was received right on time!”

Other folks in the neighborhood left several positive comments on Kathy’s post. She hopes sharing her “Neighborly Moment” will encourage others to post about the goodness they encounter as well.

#3 The Friendly Flag

Paul, a homeowner in Rancho Cucamonga, California, posted a video to the Neighbors app that showed his neighbor, Thien, putting a flag back after the wind knocked it down.

“We live in a good city,” Paul pointed out — and his fellow Rancho Cucamonga residents agreed.

“Now that’s what I like seeing,” one neighbor commented.

“[Seeing this was] a nice way to start my day,” wrote another. “Thank you for sharing.”

#4 Holiday Helpfulness

A St. Louis resident named Nicolette posted to the Neighbors app thanking her “Good Samaritan neighbor” for being the opposite of a grinch. Nicolette explained that she accidentally put the wrong delivery address on a holiday gift order, and the neighbor who received it “walked to our house to give it to us while it was cold and snowing.”

“I just thought that if they had [the Neighbors app], then maybe they could see my message and know how [grateful] we are that they did something so selfless and [didn’t] keep the gift for themselves,” she said.

Other folks in Nicolette’s neighborhood enjoyed this “Neighborly Moment” as well. As one person commented, “That is the holiday spirit, y’all!”

#5 Treasure On Trash Day

When a Lancaster, California, resident named David forgot to take out his garbage cans on trash day, he could’ve been out of luck until the next pickup. Fortunately for David, though, his neighbor Todd stepped in to do the dirty work.

David posted a video to the Neighbors app showing Todd taking out his trash cans, writing, “Just wanted to post something awesome that happened this morning.”

And as this grateful, garbage-free guy pointed out, “even the rain” didn’t stop Todd from doing this good deed.
