Police Department detectives arrested a Maryland man

Metropolitan Police Department detectives arrested a Maryland man Monday, Feb. 10, in connection with two recent violent crimes, one in Buena Vista and the other in Foggy Bottom, according to a police release. Police charged Gregory Toran, 37, of Jessup, Maryland, with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun) and Armed Robbery (Gun).

On Sunday, Dec. 22, around 4:33 p.m., officers from the Seventh District were dispatched for the report of a shooting in the 2900 block of 30th Street, S.E. Arriving on the scene, they found an adult female suffering from a gunshot wound. D.C. Fire and EMS transported the victim to a nearby hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Police identified Toran as the suspect in the case and an arrest warrant was issued for Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun).

On Tuesday, Jan. 14, around 5:21 a.m., two suspects approached a victim inside a room in the 800 block of New Hampshire Avenue, N.W. One of the suspects point a handgun and they both stole the victim’s property before fleeing the scene.

Following an investigation, police charged Toran with Armed Robbery (Gun) in connection with the Jan. 14 incident.

Both cases remain under investigation.
