By now, we all know the Patriots will look different in 2020. The roster will already be without the likes of Tom Brady, Stephen Gostkowski, Kyle Van Noy and Jamie Collins. As it turns out, the team will literally look different this fall.
The Patriots will be changing their uniforms this offseason, a person familiar with the decision confirmed. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the team had not announced the move.
There won’t be a drastic change, however, and there will be no changes to the Patriots current logo. The team will unveil the new uniforms on their social media platforms next month.
Julian Edelman earlier teased a potential Patriots uniform change. He posted a photoshopped picture on his Twitter Instagram account on March 13 that read, “Hearing rumors about new jerseys…” The picture was of himself in an old-school Drew Bledsoe jersey from the 1990s. Those jerseys feature a brighter shade of blue than the current versions do.
In a way, it would make sense to kick off the post-Brady years with a newish look. After all, the Patriots are embarking on the end of a historic era (with Brady) and the start of a new one.
This offseason will feature plenty of changes across the NFL. The Patriots will join the Los Angeles Rams, Atlanta Falcons, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Cleveland Browns in changing their uniforms. The Associated Press also reports that the Indianapolis Colts will tweak their logo and uniform.
