Dolphins player Kendrick Norton involved in serious car accident

Miami Dolphins defensive tackle Kendrick Norton was involved in a serious car accident Thursday morning, the team said in a statement.

According to the South Florida Sun Sentinel, Norton, 22, is in critical condition at Miami Jackson Memorial Hospital’s trauma unit, but is expected to survive. Norton was involved in a multiple-car accident in which a vehicle rolled over, according to the Sun Sentinel and the Miami Herald. A family friend told the Miami Herald that Norton’s injuries include a serious arm injury.

“We were made aware this morning of a serious car accident involving Kendrick Norton. Our thoughts and prayers are with Kendrick and his family during this time,” the team statement said.

Norton, who also played for the University of Miami, was picked up by the Dolphins from the Carolina Panthers’ practice team last year. He was expected to compete to make the Dolphins’ 53-man roster for the 2019 campaign. He was drafted by the Panthers in the seventh round of the 2018 NFL draft. Norton was third team all-ACC as a sophomore.
