City of Philadelphia now suggests that Eagles fans might be allowed to attend games

One day after saying fans would not be permitted to attend Eagles home games this season due to the coronavirus pandemic, Philadelphia officials suggested Wednesday that the decision could be reversed.

In a statement released Wednesday, the city clarified that fans might be allowed at games if the city were to adjust its rules in the coming months.

Under Philadelphia’s current safety guidelines, outdoor events involving more than 50 people are prohibited. However, according to Wednesday’s announcement, “this is a fluid situation, and this policy is under constant review.” Additionally, the statement said the Eagles and city officials are having ongoing discussions about the situation and will continue working together.

On Tuesday, officials announced a moratorium on all large public events through February 2021, saying spectators would not be permitted in the stands at Eagles home games.

Both the NFL and MLB safety protocols outline compliance with local public health requirements. The Phillies have already planned to hold their 30 home games as part of MLB’s 60-game season without fans.
